Tango Pulse | Argentine Tango
Our community attracts dancers from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York and beyond! We are known for our welcoming community, rewarding classes and unique Assistant program. In our classes, we teach both open and close embrace, and explore elements of traditional, salon and nuevo styles of Argentinean tango. Our focus is on ways to dance and connect that support comfortable, healthy physical technique for every person. We have a large group of dancers who are in love with Tango but, at the same time, recognize that it’s not just about the dancing, it’s social…and building a healthy, friendly, open minded community is just as important.

Fundamentals :: This class is suitable for all levels, from first time Tango dancers to those who have been dancing for many years! While we are dealing with the fundamentals of tango, those of us who have been dancing for a while know how important it is to revisit and refine our technique regularly. Classes will focus on basic structures, connection, embrace, technique and important elements of social dancing. New students will receive 30 minutes with an experienced TangoPulse Assistant at the beginning of class. This unique service helps students advance much more quickly than traditional group class models.
Advanced Concepts :: While steps and structures are important, the way we execute them can make the difference between a good tanda and a exceptional one. In this series, we will explore textures and qualities of the embrace and the way we can use these elements to create unforgettable dances, regardless of how much space we have to work with. We will explore how we can get the most out of every dance by listening more acutely to the music, our partner, ourselves and our environment. Students who commit to exploring these topics will see exponential improvement in their ability to connect more deeply, be active partners, express themselves, and play with the nuances of the music by adding texture, pauses, slow movement and acceleration.
We highly recommend that all students taking the Advanced Concepts class also take the Fundamentals class, as the foundational knowledge gained there will significantly improve students’ ability to learn and retain each week’s structure. Discounted prices available for those purchasing the double class + practica package.
:: $60 for 5 single class card + practica package (or $15 per single class)
:: $100 for 5 double class card (Fundamentals + Structures) + practica package (or $25 per double class)

The Berkshires Lee, MA
at Good Purpose Gallery 40 Main St. Lee MA
8 week Series starting January 7th Wednesdays
Main instructors: Paul Marshall & Amy Bainbridge
Supported by the TangoPulse Assistants: Kate, Sara P, and Todd
6:00-7:00pm :: Fundamentals/Beginners
7:00-7:30pm :: Practica
7:30-8:30pm :: Tango Structures (Intermediate)
Fundamentals :: The Fundamentals class is geared specifically for that: to practice and strengthen the fundamentals of tango. This is the perfect class for all levels of dancers because everything is based on what is covered in this class ranging from the embrace, to walking, to basic structures that are foundation to all others. Here you can start or continue to explore your role (follower/leader) if you have never taken tango or have taken a few series to become a confident dancer. This is also perfect for experienced dancers who understand the importance of exploring the opposite role and are wanting to improve both sides of the dance.
Practica:: The practica is a short time for students of both classes to practice with each other on what was previously taught or warming up for the next class.
Tango Structures – Intermediate :: The Structures class is geared for intermediate/advanced dancers who have been dancing Argentine tango for a while. Basic techniques will not be taught, but rather recycled, refined, and explored through new and more challenging structures to add to your tango vocabulary.
The goal of both classes is to create confident, well-balanced, quality dancers so that you are able to participate in any milonga, in any place, and thoroughly enjoy the art and beauty of the Argentine Tango.
:: $80 per series (Fundamentals/Structures). This must be paid up front regardless of missed classes because we have a non-negotiable rent to pay in order to reserve the space for our 8 weeks.
Classes :: TangoPulse teaches on a 2 months on/2 months off schedule. The months we will be teaching in 2015 are January/February, May/June, September/October. Please see the class schedule on the website for exact dates.
Practicas :: TangoPulse holds a public practica each Sunday from 7-9:30pm at Studio Helix in Northampton. Cost: $7 per person
Milongas :: TangoPulse hosts a monthly milonga from 9pm-12am on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Studio Helix. Cost: $15 per person/$10 full time students
