Lost and Found: Back in the Groove of my Sensuality

In my room...

I can't believe the weather. It's -50F with wind chill factor at home and over 100F here. That's a remarkable 150 degree spread. I expected to be overcome by the heat but find instead that I feel quite comfortable. However, feeling comfortable in my skin in another matter.

Many of the Argentine women wear outrageously revealing outfits..even if they are pregnant or overweight. I sense a pride and comfort in being sensual AND sexual that I don't feel in the U.S.,

at least not where I live. Really tight slacks that reveal "camel toe" is the norm.

And the men's reactions? They whisper ..."hermosa"..."linda"..."mi amor"...

and/or they undress you with their eyes.

Of course, being an American I avert my eyes.

It is disturbing...but secretly thrilling.

So I'm going shopping to find clothes that are more sensual...

to go with this new awareness of the curves..the contours of my body.

Clothes that reflect what I am beginning to feel inside -

fishnet hose, socks, and tops with pants that ride low on the hips.

My walk has changed. It's smoother and I stand straighter.

I feel 100% a woman.

.....but there's a down side to all this awareness of self.

Buenos Aires is a place for "fixing"

....face lifts, breast implants, nose jobs, Botox, chemical peels..etc.

I heard from a friend that BA is the plastic surgery capital of the world and

recently I received an email from BA that marketed several cosmetic surgery packages

that included tango lessons while in recovery.

At first I laughed and then I glanced in the mirror.

As I looked at this face that looks older than I feel,

I wonder if I can be sensual,

accept the appreciation expressed by Latin men,

feel and enjoy being a woman,

without succumbing to the pressures of the

"fountain of youth".
